Governor condoles, bodies denounce killing of SDPO

Governor Anusuiya Uikey has expressed deep shock over the killing of Moreh SDPO Ch Anand Singh on Tuesday at Moreh town in Tengnoupal district by some unknown armed miscreants.
In a statement, the Governor conveyed her heartfelt condolences to members of the bereaved family, prayed for the Almighty to give the family strength and courage to bear the irreparable loss and for peaceful rest of the departed soul.
Meanwhile, many denounced the killing of SDPO Chingtham Anand-kumar in an attack carried out by Kuki militants while supervising clean-up activities for setting up a helipad in Moreh on Tuesday.
In separate releases, Association of Meiteis in the America, Indian National Trade Union Congress, All Manipur Meitei Defence Committee of India, Sainik School Imphal, Sainik School Imphal Alumni Association, Meetei United Front and Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation outrightly condemned the killing and expressed that the senseless act of violence has not only claimed the life of a dedicated police officer but also impacted the civilians he served and protected.
Demanding to flush out Kuki militants from Manipur, they also condoled the death of Anandkumar and extended solidarity to pain and grief of the bereaved family.
SDPO Anandkumar's unwavering dedication and commitment to his responsibilities and his ultimate sacrifice will always be remembered.
His selfless dedication and courage have made a lasting impression on the people who had the privilege of knowing him, they praised, while adding that his legacy of valour and dedication will serve as a beacon of inspiration to the future generations.
They further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
Meanwhile, Village Volunteer Services (VVS) Khundrakpam A/C convenor L Bobby, told newspersons at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday that lapses on the part of the security advisor and the DGP led to the unfortunate incident.
Demanding empowerment of state forces in Moreh town, he maintained that the conflict will only end when the security advisor and the DGP are replaced and the chief minister reinstated as head of the unified command.
