Funeral service of slain SDPO Anandkumar held with full state honours

The funeral service of slain Moreh SDPO Ch Anandkumar was held at his native Kwakeithel Moirangpurel in Imphal West district on Wednesday after according full state honours at the Police Memorial located inside 1MR complex here.
Chief minister N Biren Singh led his council of ministers, MLAs, police officers and general population in giving befitting tribute to the highly decorated police officer, who lost his life in an attack by Kuki militants on Tuesday morning at Moreh while overseeing construction of a helipad.
After paying tribute to the slain police officer, CM Biren told media persons that Anandkumar was a patriotic police officer and he was killed in a cold-blooded manner.
He said that state government considers the killing of Anandkumar very seriously and accordingly launched a joint combing operation in Moreh with involvement of state and central forces.
The joint operation will continue till the arrest of all those involved in the killing of Anandkumar, he affirmed.
Earlier, around 20 representatives of the JAC against the killing of Ch Anandkumar held talk with N Biren at the CM's secretariat on Wednesday morning wherein an understanding was reached and the JAC and family decided to claim Anandkumar's body.
JAC convener Dr Maibam Ratan told media persons that the JAC decided to claim Anandkumar's body after the state cabinet took some positive actions and the assurance given by CM Biren Singh to honour all the demands raised by the JAC.
Accordingly, the JAC took Anandkumar's body from JNIMS morgue and placed it at the western gate of Kangla, wherein women vendors of Khwairamband Keithel and people offered floral tributes.
Later, Anandkumar's body was taken to 1 MR complex wherein a full state honour was given.
CM, ministers, MLAs, security advisor Kuldiep Singh and police officers including DGP in-charge Ashutosh Sinha, senior officers of central forces deployed in the state also paid tributes to the slain police officer.
When Anandkumar's body was brought to his native place, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel, large number of people lined up along the Keishampat-Kwakeithel stretch of Tiddim road and paid their last respect to the slain police officer.
People also paid their highest respect to the slain police officer at Youth Development Club cum Mina Library complex at Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai Moirang Purel Makha.
Meanwhile, security advisor Kuldiep Singh told media persons on the sidelines of the wreath laying ceremony at 1 MR complex that additional security forces have been sent to Moreh after the Tuesday morning's incident and all barricades along Imphal-Moreh road have been re moved.
He also said that some suspects have been identified and investigation regarding the incident is continuing.
