Imphal, November 01 2023:
While condemning in the strongest term the killing of Moreh SDPO Chingtham Anand and terming the incident as most unfortunate, Forum for Restoration of Peace Manipur (FRPM) has stated that if the state government cannot convene a meeting of all the ministers, MLAs and CSOs to bring about a solution to the prevailing situation, it would be construed that the government has no intention to restore peace in Manipur.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Wednesday, FRPM convenor Ashang Kasar said that despite the state government claiming that the situation in Manipur has improved, various unwanted incidents continue to happen, with the latest being killing of the Moreh SDPO on Tuesday.
He also appealed to political parties against escalating tension in the state by exploiting the prevailing crisis.
Ashang Kasar also questioned as to why authority concerned has not taken up any measure to destroy the poppy plantation despite the union government assuring to provide aircrafts of Indian Air Force for the same.
Meanwhile, FRPM co-convenor Kheiruddin Shah, who was also present at the press meet, condemned the valley based CSOs for remaining silent over the recent incident of a Meitei Muslim from Kshet-rigao killed by a mob.
Despite the assurance from the state government to ensure befitting punishment to the culprits involved, no action has been taken up till date, he lamented.
