N Maipak laid to rest, CM pays tributes

'Son of Manipur' Nongthombam Maipak, who won the Mister India title and represented the country in the Mister Universe competition, was laid to rest at the local Crematorium of Naoremthong Laishram Leikai on Tuesday in the presence of chief minister N Biren, among others.
The body of 'Mister' Maipak was wrapped in the tricolour and flag of Kangchup Road Physical Sports Association (KRYHPSA) as a mark of respect as the CM led the mourners in paying floral tributes.
During the funeral ceremony attended by people from different walks of life including sports, CM N Biren praised Mr Maipak as one of the outstanding personalities of Manipur.
He (Maipak) not only encouraged young body builders but also led them to the right path, Biren added.
While praying for the departed soul to rest in peace, the CM also shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, many condoled the untimely demise of former Mister India title winner and Manipur body building pioneer Nongthombam Maipak Singh, who received the title 'Son of Manipur' .
Communist Party of India condoled the death of 'Mister' Maipak with a party's delegation visiting his residence at Uripok DC road.
The delegation comprising state secretary L Thoiren, assistant secretaries M Joykumar and N Singhajit, recalled the works and achievements of Maipak.
Manipur Amateur Body Builders Association (MABBA) also condoled the demise of N Maipak and observed two minutes' silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
It also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
