Imphal, June 28 2023:
While demanding apology from one Glady Vaiphei Hunjan for her disparaging remark on the Meira Paibi movement and activists, COCOMI Women Wing threatened to lodge FIR against Glady in case she does not withdraw her statement.
Addressing media persons at its Lamphelpat office, CO COMI Women Wing executive member Lourembam Nganbi referred to the discussion programme on India Today anchored by Rajdeep Sarde sai on June 26 with Glady Vaiphei and Binalakshmi Nepram as panellists.
Recounting that Glady called Meira Paibi as 'shame less' women while referring to nude protest by a group of Manipuri women in front of Kangla western gate to demand scrapping of AFSPA from the state to save the people of Manipur, Nganbi regretted that instead of commenting on the present crisis in Manipur, Glady's attempted to articulate wrong
impression upon the public.
She further demanded that Glady Vaiphei Hunjan clarify to the women of Manipur as to why she made such outrageous statement.
The menfolk of the state should also come out and protest against such statement made by a woman whose origin is unknown, seems unaware about the currently imbro-lio in Manipur and that we ave been living together in the state.
"We have also decided to lodge an FIR against Glady Vaiphei Hunjan and book her under relevant legal cases," she added.
Chipping in COCOMI Women Wing member RK Tharaksana reminded all concerned that Manipur was saved by the womenfolk (Manipuri Mothers) during the 1st and 2nd Nupi Lai and also ensure removal of the AR from the sacred Kangla by demonstrating nude in front of Kangla gate.
However, Glady Vaiphei Hun-jan's motive seem to tarnish the image of Meira Paibi by calling Manipuri mothers as 'shameless' for the said protest.
Therefore, she should clarify over her remark within 10 days and apologise to the mothers of Manipur, she affirmed.
