Imphal, June 28 2023:
The Joint Forum of Civil Society Organisations (JFCSOs) has sought the assistance of the international community to prevent the establishment of another Golden Triangle in Manipur by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists.
JFCSOs is a conglomerate of IPSA, ACOAM-Lup, PANDM, IPAK, KANGLAMEI, Kanglei Ima Lup, CLK and KSA.
A press release issued by JFCSOs said that a section of Kuki people who take part in the work of narco-terrorism have been attempting to depict the violence in Manipur as a matter of Meeteis oppressing the smaller group, Hindu attack on Christian and other lies to conceal the true picture.
The Forum said that people across the country and around the world have started seeing the root cause and the motive behind the creation of unrest in Manipur as truth cannot be concealed by lies for a prolonged period.
Claiming that the peace rally of May 3 was organised by narco-terrorists using the banner of All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) to misguide the people, the Forum said that a group of people along with well armed individuals started attacking Meetei villages shortly after the rally turned violent.
Saying that the narco-terrorists depicted the violence as the Hindu attack on Churches the next day (May 4) as they couldn't portray it as Meeteis vs tribals due to the neutrality being maintained by the Naga brethren, the JFCSOs said that there are over 200 Churches in the valley districts which are unharmed and such the violence is not a question of religious conflict.
The Kuki MLAs 'projected by narco-terrorists' then again illustrated the crisis to be of ethnic cleansing in a letter addressed to the Prime Minister while demanding separate administration for Chin-Kuki people and their kindred tribes, the Forum continued.
JFCSOs went on to claim that the violence was instigated by drug lords from Myanmar by using Chin-Kuki refugees who have wrongly been identified as Scheduled Tribe, the militants the established and the politicians they mould to carry out their drug business freely.
These narco-terrorists are against War on Drug, setting up of Population Commission and drive against encroachment as all these initiatives are a hindrance to their drug trade, the Forum continued and added that what is more is disturbing is the dream of the narco-terrorists to build another Golden Triangle in Manipur by engaging in widespread poppy plantation in Kuki dominated areas, drug trafficking and settlement of unauthorised villages by bringing outsiders.
Further claiming that the narco-terrorists have already set up poppy farms, opium manufacturing units and well armed syndicate to carry out the drug trade, JFCSOs maintained that they (the narco terrorists) have started holding dialogue with the Government of India seeking political status.
Saying that a new wave of drugs will be spread from the Kuki villages of Manipur to other States of India and beyond if these narco-terrorists are not defeated, the Forum sought an assistance from the international communities to prevent emergence of a new Golden Triangle in Manipur.
