Imphal, June 28 2023:
Members of Laipham Khunou Apunba Meira Lup (LKAML) seized about 150 litres of local liquor from a food joint located at Sangakpham Bazar, Imphal East on Tuesday night.
The owner of the food joint identified as one Luxmi who was apprehended along with the liquor was set free by LKAML after giving strong warning to never indulge in liquor business in the future.
Speaking to the media, LKAML secretary Elangbam Sobita said, "It is unfortunate that amidst the ongoing unrest, where the people are suffering and Meira Paibis are guarding their respective localities to prevent any untoward incident, the food joint is selling liquor for some profit" .

She maintained that a few days back the Meira Paibi had already warned the food joint to halt selling of such liquor, however despite their warning, the food joint was found selling liquor.
"While protecting the State's integrity, it is also a must to protect the youths from drugs & substance abuse", she added.
Later, the seized liquor was disposed of in Sangakpham area in front of media persons.
