Kangpokpi, June 28 2023:
Saying that they will not accept the peace initiative taken up by the Government unless Chief Minister N Biren Singh is removed and President Rule imposed in Manipur, the Committee on Tribals Unity (CoTU) Sadar Hills has reminded the Central Government of its demand which seeks separate administration for the Kuki-Zo communities during Union Home Minister Amit Shah visit to Manipur.
The CoTU also reiterated its firm position on Chief Minister N Biren Singh's proposed mass outreach programme to restore peace in the State.
Lamminlun Singsit, general secretary of CoTU, said that a joint memorandum was submitted to Amit Shah during his stay in Manipur demanding a separate administration for Kuki-Zo people.
Reminding its demand, he urged the Central Government to immediately address the problems and grievances of the Kuki-Zo community and grant the separate administration without further delay.
He also said that the only solution to restore normalcy and durable peace is separation administration.
Reiterating the stand of CoTU, Lamminlun Singsit continued that they are not in the position to take part in the peace initiative where Chief Minister N Biren and valley based organisations are involved as they allegedly are hostile towards Kuki-Zo communities.
Further explaining why they could not accept the peace initiative, Lamminlun Singsit said that the Kuki-Zo people have no more faith in the leadership of N Biren Singh and his associates.
Singsit further went on to state that they will not accept the peace initiative unless President Rule is invoked in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh is removed and arms and ammunition in the possession of Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun are recovered.
