More arms, ammos impounded

Imphal, June 28 2023:
A team of Imphal West commandos arrested a 35 year old man with one pistol and ammunition from North AOC on Tuesday.
The person has been identified as Longjam Robichandra @ Nanao @ Ngou Singh, s/o (L) L Kula Singh of Keishamthong Maning Longjam Leirak.
From his possession, one .32 pistol, three live rounds of 9mm ammunition, one .22 live ammunition, one motorcycle (Jawa), Rs 880 in cash, some ID cards, a vehicle registration card and two mobile handsets.
He has been taken to Imphal police station along with the seized items.
Meanwhile, a press release issued today by the Police Control Room said that eight arms, two ammunition and two bombs were recovered from Kakching district in the last 24 hours.
The police appealed to all concerned to return all the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or security force immediately.
It also shared a helpline number 9233522822 to clarify rumours.
About 122 checkpoints have also been installed in both hill and valley districts, as per the police.
Situation is tense in some places but it is improving in most places with no untoward incident in the last 24 hours, it added.
On the other hand, a combined team of Army, police and Assam Rifles arrested two persons along with arms and ammunition at Kairang Turel Mapal yesterday.
The combined team recovered 6 weapons including two country-made and ammunition, said Assam Rifles.
The joint search operation to recover arms and ammunition was carried out at around 6 am.
Recovered items and the individuals have been handed over to Heingang police station, Imphal East.
