Many condemn Killing of Obed

Imphal, July 24 2023: Many condemned the abduction and brutal killing of ZUF Makuilong region regional chairman Lt Diguplung alias Obed Kamei.

In separate releases, Zeliangrong Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland), Zeliangrong United Committee Manipur Valley and Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur stated that Obed was captured on July 19 and his body recovered from Dailong village Tamenglong district on July 20.The merciless killing brought disgrace for the Naga society, they added.

Opposing the culture of internecine killings, they maintained that the suppression of Zeliangrong by NSCN (IM) has nothing to do with Naga political struggle and political Kamei aspiration but it will create more trust deficit in the society.

Demanding logical explanations f;or killing Obed Kamei, they maintained that other Naga communities also have their own insurgencies and political aspiration however they are not being targeted and continue to have understanding with the larger Naga people.

The question arises why Zeliangrong is liability to the Naga and whether killing of Zeliangrong brother enhance the Naga Political talk.

Appealing to both the NSCN (IM) and ZUF (Jenchui) to shun any form of violence and killing in all the Zeliangrong inhabited areas in this sensitive and crucial juncture, they also shared pain and sorrow of the bereaved family.
