Crisis discussed, resolutions adopted

A public meeting on the roles of the public and expectation from the government in connection with the current crisis in Manipur was organised jointly by 14 Clubs and Meira Paibi Co-Ordinating Committee - 5 Villages (Charangpat, Bengi, Thokchom, Icham Khunnou and Nepra Company) at Chingu Arong Ningthou Laibung, Charangpat Mamang Leikai in Thoubal district, on Wednesday.
The meeting was attended by social activist Maheshwor Thounaojam, Manipur University Economics department professor Chinglen Maisnam, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup (AMKIL) president Nganbi Leima and representatives of various organisations and meira paibi groups as presidium members.
As part of the meeting, floral tributes were offered to photos of those, including Moreh SDPO Ch Anand, who sacrificed for holding interest of Manipur and its people followed by observance of two minutes' silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
The meeting also adopted a number of resolutions which include - to press the state government for taking up measures for ending the conflict between Meiteis and Kukis; urge the government to ensure resettlement of the displaced people living in relief camps in their respective houses at the earliest; and that the Co-Ordinating Committee will support any agitations launched by the CSOs and public to safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur.
