JAC sets deadline to arrest 'Laikot' mishap culprit

The JAC formed in connection with the death of Amangliu Pamei and Z Asongbou, who were killed after a truck hit their Bolero at Laikot under Sapermeina police station in Kangpokpi district on November 17, has served an ultimatum of three days for rounding up owner of the involved truck identified as Bishwajit Dey.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, on Tuesday, JAC convenor Lavner Chawang said that Amangliu Pamei died at the spot while Z Asongbou succumbed to injuries at Raj Medicity on November 17.Asongbou's sons Joshibou Suinamai and Pousanwibou Zuinamai, who were also hurt in the accident are undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity with their condition stated to be serious.
Lavner further informed that though the truck driver along with another person has been detained by the police there has no substantial breakthrough in the case as Bishwajit Dey, who is the owner of the truck, still remains at large.
A memorandum has been submitted to the chief minister with various demands including arrest of Bishwajit Dey within three days, provide suitable government job to at-least one of the children of the deceased couple, extend ex-gratia for the victims to their sons, cover medical expenses and repair the Bolero, Lavner said.
