Meet on Women's Reservation Bill, 2023 held

Imphal, February 04 2024: Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and Waiton Gram Panchayat jointly organised an interactive meeting on 'Towards New Role of Women with Special Reference to Nari Shakti Vandhan Adiniyam/Women's Reservation Bill, 2023 at Waiton Maning Leikai community hall on Sunday.

In a release, IDS treasurer RK Prjyobrata Singh informed that the meet participated by Waiton villagers was attended by IDS chairman professor N Mohendro Singh as chief guest and Waiton GP caretaker pradhan Pukhrambam Surbala Devi as president, while PHED CCDU retired director RK Dilip Singh and Laishram Shyama High School secretary Maibam Sarat Singh were the guests of honour.

The release also conveyed that the meet mainly focused on the 'Role of Women in Manipur' with special reference to Women's Reservation Bill 2023 with prof N Mohendro highlighting its various aspects.

He also suggested creating awareness and educating women about their rights and importance of their political involvement and strengthening of women's self-help groups.
