In a press communique, CPI Manipur State Council assistant secretary M Joykumar Luwang informed that a meeting of the CPI Sekmai Local Council was held at Loitang Khunou condemned discrimination of the people of Sekmai assembly constituency by the state government.
No attempt has been made by the state government to safeguard the lives and properties of the people of Sekmai even though the assembly constituency is within the core zone of the ethnic violence.
The government seems unconcerned about Sekmai village which is along the national highway, where Kuki militants are raining billets and exploding bombs, but giving attention to a few areas including Kadangban, Senjam Chirang, Phayeng, Tairenpokpi, Khurkhul, Leimakhong Sabal and Kanto villages, the release charged.
The release also mentioned brutal torture of CPI local secretary Yaima by Kuki militants and said that the womenfolk of the constituency are spending nights on the roads guarding the state for the last 9 months.
The state government should provide compensation to all the victims of the crisis within 15 days failing which CPI will resort to intense agitation along with the public.
