World Cancer Day observed

In line with the observance of World Cancer Day, Trevi Hospital, Langol Laimanai today organised a Cervical Cancer Screening Programme at the premises of the hospital under the theme, "Close the care gap" .
During the camp, free pap smear tests and OPD consultations were provided to the people by the doctors & staff of Trevi Hospital.
Voluntary cervical cancer test was also done for about 50 individuals.
Speaking on the occasion, Trevi Hospital managing director Dr Rajkumar Bikramjit said that cervical cancer is the second most common cancer among women in Manipur.
Highlighting that screening for cervical cancer every 3 years is recommended in women, he said, "Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer, as long as it is detected early and managed effectively" .
He asserted that the combination of Human Papillomavirus vaccination and screening can provide the greatest protection against cervical cancer.
Dr RK Bikramjit further elaborated on the need to conduct screening & awareness programmes to make the people aware about cervical cancer.
Moreover, Senior Citizens Society Khundrakpam AC also observed World Cancer Day 2024 at RAM School, Pangei, Imphal on Sunday.
The observation began with the participants led by social worker Dr Kshetrimayum Kala Singh taking the 'Cancer free pledge' .
Later, a medical camp was also conducted wherein free health examination & consultation was provided to about 150 individuals.
