Bishnupur, February 04 2024:
Meetei Coordinating Committee Tronglaobi to Torbung and Waikhurok has cautioned of imposing counter blockade and prevent transportation of all essential items to Churachandpur from February 9 if the Kuki volunteers in Moreh do not withdraw ban imposed on shops in Moreh from selling any essential items including food to state forces deployed in Moreh, by February 8 .
Issuing the cautionary during a press meet held at Terakhongshangbi Awang Leikai Mandop on Sunday, Committee president Yumnam Tomba said that the Kuki volunteer forces in Tengnoupal district placed a prohibition on all shops in Moreh on sale of any essential items including food to the state forces deployed in Moreh, which is a sad, cowardly act.
As such, he urged the state government to take requisite action to put a stop to such nonsense and award befitting punishment to all those responsible.
Tomba then warned that the Committee will not stay silent if the Kuki volunteers continue to "heckle" the state forces and demanded for withdrawal of the ban by February 8 .
If the Kuki volunteers fail to do so, then the Committee in collaboration with CSOs, clubs, organisations and Meira Paibi groups will launch counter blockade and prevent supply of essential goods to Churachandpur from February 9 .
He also called upon all the other indigenous communities of the state to support the same.
