1st Governor's Cup Boxing Championship : A Mangal squeezes into junior boys 75 kg final

Imphal, February 04 2024:
Aheibam Mangal of SRBA-A boxed his way into the 75 kg junior boys final in the 1st Governor's Cup Boxing Championship being underway at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Mangal edged out Khangchrakpam Premchand of SCT-Imphal 4-3 in a keenly contested semi-final bout to secure his final ticket today.
Prabin Naorem of PKBA also made his way into the junior boys 66 kg final with an RSC win over Kangabam Yohenba of MBA in a semi-final bout.
Amaraj Wahengbam of STC-Imphal also confirmed his place in the junior boys 48 kg final with a hardfought 4-3 win over Thokchom Thoiba of MBA.

The final line up of the junior boys 50 kg, 52 kg, 54 kg, 57 kg, 60 kg and 63 kg categories were also completed today.
In the 50 kg semi-final bouts, Mutum Nikison of MKBA-B edged out Chingangbam Agu of PBA 4-3 to set up the final date with Thingom Rishi Singh of MKBA-A who outclassed SBA's Bikash Yengkhom 5-0 .
Nandeibam Bobychand of PBA sealed his place in the 52 kg final with an easy 5-0 win over Mashungchui Phungshok of MKBA-B as Thoumujam Paikhomba of MKBA-A sealed an RSC win over ESA's N Sanathoi in the other semi-final bout.
Fighting for the 54 kg category title are Amom Maipaksana of AUS who edged out MBA's Yumnam Robert and Md Abdul Noor of ESA who outlasted SBA's Rakesh Konjengbam 4-3 .
The finallists for the 57 kg category are Moirangthem Yaikhomba of NBA who overcame Johnson Khoirom of MKBA-A 4-1 and Moirangthem Lanngamba of ESA who sealed an RSC win over M Vickyson of PBA in today's semi-final bouts.
In the 60 kg semi-final bouts, Moirangthem Punshiba of MKBA-A knocked out Chonreuhor Y Shimray of MKBA-B 5-0 while Ricky Laishram of SRBA got a walkover win over ESA opponent H Dharmaraj.
In the 63-kg semi-final bouts, Leimapokpam Binod Kumar of STC-Utlou edged out Semmi Shangh of SRBA-A 4-1 as Keisham Thoungamba of NBA overwhelmed MKBA-A 5-0 .
The day also saw completion of final line ups of the junior girls 46, 48 and 50 kg categories.
In the 46 kg semi-final bouts, Kiran Chingakham of STC-Imphal edged out MKBA-A's Ngalangam Pheirei 4-1 and Moirangthem Alina Devi of AUS prevailed 4-1 over SRBA-A's Yirmi Muivah 4-1 .
In the 48 kg semi-final bouts, Loitongbam Bidya of STC-Imphal registered an RSC win over Angom Jayabati of NSA while Sneha Thangjam of MKBA-A notched up 5-0 unanimous decision win over ESA's Ayekpam Ajita.
Ningthoujam Anjali of STC-Imphal in the meantime earned a walkover win over ESA's Priety Laishram to set up 50 kg final date with MKBA-A's Gunshalu Khumba who sealed an RSC win over NSA's Shamjetshabam Rejiya.
In the lone 52 kg semi-final bout, Loitongbam Luxmi of STC-Imphal eased to an RSC win over ESA's L Alia to confirm her final ticket.
