Folk Festival conducted at Lamsang

Manipuri Arangpham Development and Cultural Institution, Lamsang bazar organised a one-day Folk Festival at Haorang Sabal community hall on Sunday.
The inaugural session of the folk festival was attended by theatre director Loitongbam Brajamohon as chief guest, State Kala Akademi awardee B Jugolchandra Sharma as president and writer Saratchand Thiyam as guest of honour.
Delivering the key note address of the inaugural session, Arangpham Institution secretary Khuraijam Girani Singh said the festival was organised as part of promotion of rich culture of Manipur and also to impart the rich culture of the land to emerging youth.
In his speech at the event, Saratchand Thiyam said the present generation in Manipur could live with pride due to rich cultural assets left by forefathers of the land and this need to be known to every section of people.
He also said that sacred sites like Koubru, Thangjing, Loktak, Koun, Singda and Andro are part and parcel of the lives of the Meetei community and these sacred sites cannot be separated at all.
As chief guest of the event, Loitongbam Brajamohon said the present generation need to preserve rich cultural assets preserved by forefathers or else there will be negative impact to the society in near future.
He also thanked the organisers for conducting the folk festival at such a crucial juncture.
Pena, folk song and Khullang Eshei were presented by different artistes during the day-long festival.
