CRPF IG, SC-appointed supervisor call on Governor

Akhilesh Prasad Singh, the newly appointed IG of CRPF, Manipur and Nagaland Sector met Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Thursday and discussed about the situation in the state.
The IG informed the Governor that he will extend full cooperation to restore peace and tranquillity in the state, which was warmly recipro cated by the Governor and said that timely deployment of Central security forces including CRPF, succeeded in containing the situation turning from bad to worse.
Further, the Governor urged the IG to extend assistance to the violence affected people who have been taking shelter in different relief camps both in the valley and hill districts.
Former deputy national security adviser DD Padsalgikar, the officer appointed by the Supreme Court to monitor and supervise cases handed over to CBI and those of SITs, also called on the Governor and apprised her of the current crisis in the state.
Padsalgikar has been posted in the state, mainly to supervise the cases investigated by CBI and SITs.
He informed the Governor that to begin with 42 SITs will be set up and investigate all the violence related cases expeditiously.
As far as the cases in the hills districts are concerned, he informed the Governor that video conferencing facilities will be provided through BSNL and NIC to get the cases investigated.
The first status report of the investigation will be submitted to the au thorityby the first week of October, he informed.
He also said that he had visited many relief camps and met internally displaced people in the camps.
He requested the Governor to take all possible steps to extend help to the people.
The Governor stated that both the Central and state governments have already taken up necessary common programme of actions to extend help to the violence-affected people and also instructed state government machineries to provide help to those people and measures to be taken up to resettle them at their respective places at the earliest possible time.
Lt Gen (Retd) L Nishikanta also called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Thursday evening and discussed the latest development in the state.
