Thoubal, August 31 2023:
Thoubal Amasung Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) strongly condemned the one day Assembly session on August 29 which lasted for only 11 minutes without discussing the key issues on the prevailing communal crisis in the State.
TAKDAL Chairman, Y Bhagyachandra Singh in a press release expressed dismay that the Assembly session was a farce as the elected people representatives failed to address the plights of their own people.
In view of the above, the Advisory Committee and Executives of TAKDAL have resolved to hold a 'Public Convention' on September 6 (Wednesday) from 1 pm onwards at Khongjom War Memorial Complex hall to raise a collective 'People's Voice' on the prevailing issue to pave way for restoring peace and normalcy in the State.
TAKDAL called upon civil society organisations, intellectuals, historians and the masses to take part in the public convention to take a collective stand.
Raising concern on the inability of the Central and State Government to resolve the communal strife besieging the State for almost four months, TAKDAL maintained that Manipur has become a 'lawless' State.
It is unfortunate that the authorities concerned have failed to address the plights of the civilians who have been adversely affected by the ongoing strife.
Despite the assurance given by the Central and State Government that there will be no compromise on the integrity of Manipur, they have failed to control the atrocities of the Kuki militants, TAKDAL lamented.
Stressing that around 50 thousand displaced Meiteis longing to resettle at their native places, TAKDAL questioned what measures have been taken by the relevant authorities regarding their resettlement and security.
Amid such a depressing situation, TAKDAL appealed to all concerned to stop politicising the matter and focus on bringing long-lasting measures for restoration of peace and normalcy in strife-torn Manipur for the well-being of all.
