Governor commends role, achievement of NIT Manipur

Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Tuesday attended the 10th Convocation of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Manipur at the institute's Langol complex, here.
Speaking at the programme which began with the solemn academic procession, Governor Anusuiya congratulated the graduating students, MTech, MSc and PhD Degree recipients for having scaled through the hurdles and crucibles of academic rigours.
She also commended the selfless efforts of the parents, teachers and all those who, in their own way, have contributed in leading the students on towards this auspicious day.
While highlighting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take the country to new heights on every front, Uikey conveyed that after their graduation a new set of challenges and opportunities awaits them and she wished and hoped that they will strive towards excellence and make a significant contribution to the human society at large.
Stressing that there is no shortcut to success, the Governor said that it can be achieved only through hard work, honesty and dedication to gain knowledge.
Governor Anusuiya informed that India is recognised in the world for its ability to successfully implement latest technology.
She expressed her pride in the country's engineers and technocrats who have shown the world that India can successfully send a spacecraft to the Moon.
She asserted that many important technologies have been created in India with indigenous technical knowledge and research.
"Our scientists and technocrats are trying their best to make India a rapidly developing country through technological advancement," she added.
The Governor hailed NIT Manipur, which was established a decade ago for producing many talented students who are not only known in India but abroad as well for their skills and professional potential in a very short time.
She highlighted that NIT, Manipur since its inception in 2010 has been flourishing at a steady pace and expressed believed that the Institute will definitely achieved its aim of becoming one of the best engineering institutions in the country.
She further said that it was a matter of great pride that in the National Ranking of Educational Institutions done under the National Institutions Ranking Framework (NIRF) this year, NIT, Manipur has been able to secure the 95th position.
She stressed that the responsibility of educated students, scientists, engineers and technical experts to create latest technology to end the country's most complex economic, educational, health and other social problems and focus should be on using technology to make India a developed nation.
The Governor then urged the youth to use their knowledge for the betterment of the society, state and country.
She wished the students passing out of the institute to work continuously for the development of the society while striving to solve the problems of the general public and focus on creating employment opportunities.
In convocation ceremony, gold medals were awarded to five meritorious students under the category- Institute Gold Medal (4 students) and Chairman's Gold Medal (1 student).
Altogether 260 students were awarded degrees, out of which 161 students were awarded BTech degrees, 47 M Tech degrees, 33 MSc degrees and 19 scholars awarded PhD degrees.
Education minister Th Basantakumar Singh and Board of Governors of NIT chairman Bajrang Lal Baghra also attended the event as guest of honour and president respectively.
NIT director Prof Kh Manglem Singh, members of Board of Governors and Senate, faculty, staff and students were also present on the occasion.
Delivering his speech education minister Basanta commended the dedications of the NIT Manipur authorities in achieving excellence in both learning and academic activities in a short period of time.
Noting that the Institute secured 95th position in 2023 from 108th position in 2022 in the NIRF ranking, the minister urged all concerned to utilise the advantage of Science and Technology in enhancing human society.
While stressing that learning is a never ending process, he advised the students to work with patience, perseverance and persistence.
