Ukhrul, August 18 2023:
It was an event stocked with laughter, tears of joy, and a great build-up of enthusiastic energy as the Association of Recognised Schools, Ukhrul District (ARSUD), the apex body of the district's private schools, organised a felicitation programme to honour the district's students for their outstanding performance in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLCE) 2023 conducted by CBSE, ICSE and BOSEM.
On Friday, the Ukhrul Teachers' Welfare Association (UDTWA) Hall, Phungreitang in Ukhrul town was crammed to its capital with over a hundred of students, parents, teachers, faculty members, well-wishers and officials from various private schools in the town.
The congregation turned up to show support and witness the felicitation of a total of 27 subject toppers who scored high marks ranging from 74 per cent to 97 per cent in MIL, English, Maths, Science, Social Science and Optional subjects respectively in the HSLCE.
The students were from various private schools including Savio, ACHSS, LAES, MMS, St George, SHHSS, KTL, and OTC.
The event was held under the theme 'Beyond Horizon'.
Calling it a special day for everyone present, ARSUD chairman Yarmi Kashung said that the occasion marked an encouragement for students to reach for higher goals with the district administration, Zonal Education Department, teachers, parents, and spiritual leaders all joining in celebrating their achievements.
He also highlighted the objectives of ARSUD, stating that the association is not only committed to safeguard the interests of the schools and teachers, but rather to ensure progress, proficiency and push the children to a higher level of success.
He went on to inform that the initiative envisions incorporating top scorers of Class XII from next year.
While congratulating the students, Yarmi Kashung also appreciated them for bringing glory not just to their schools but to the entire district.
Speaking during the function, Ukhrul ZEO Thaimei Badan, lauded the efforts of ARSUD for organising such a meaningful function, which is both inspirational and motivating for the students.
He emphasised on the significance of education and how important it is to have good education in one's lifetime.
He stated that education has an important role to play in the growth and development of a person's career and to ensure success in the society.
Badan encouraged the students to learn to understand the subject rather than to pass the exams.
The ZEO mentioned that for students, there is no other activities that are more important than studies, "So study as much as you can, forego all unnecessary activities, learn time management, maintain health, discipline, good habits, and eat nutritious food which are important traits of a student".
Above all, students should learn to fear God to lead a worthy life, the Bible says that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, he added.
The main highlights of the ceremony were the award distributions, both in cash and certificates, to the top performing students from different private schools under ARSUD.
These awards were in turn handed over by ZEO Madan on behalf of ARSUD.
In his welcome address, ARSUD vice-president Alex Khayi exhorted the students to keep up their achievements, while assuring them of unrelenting support from the ARSUD.
The function ended on a high note with ARSUD secretary Zaza Kashung toasting a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the attendees.
"The event was successful in inspiring the students to aspire and aim higher and keep up their achievements," he added.
