Sitaram Yechury led CPI (M) meets Governor

A political delegation of CPI (M) led by its general secretary Sitaram Yechury (Ex-MP Rajya Sabha) and Jitendra Chowdhury, Ex-MP Lok Sabha along with six others called on Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Friday evening and apprised her of the present situation of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) staying in different relief camps.
Sitaram Yechury while informing the Governor said that his team visited different relief camps in Imphal, Moirang and Churachandpur where they found that arrangements being done in maintain -ing and running the relief camp unsatisfactory.
He said, IDPs are deprived of nutritious food especially children & lactating mothers and even babies are being born in the camps.
In such a situation for how long the IDPs can survive with hope, he posed.
Only a political solution can bring peace to the ongoing crisis and his party has already raised this issue with the Centre, he maintained, The issue of snatching/looting weapons from different police stations was also raised.
The Governor, while welcoming the delegation, said that political parties cutting across party lines, need to cooperate with the government in bringing an amicable solution to the ongoing conflict.
Violence will not bring any solution and there -fore several appeals have been made to the two communities to shun violence and move forward for talks.
Incidents which claimed many valuable lives are unfortunate and all have to be united to end this conflict, the Governor said.
