Skill development training programme for inmates concludes

A 3-day training programme for inmates of Yumbimacha High School Relief Camp, Kakching was successfully concluded today with the formal launching of six food products manufactured by the inmates.
The skill training programme was organized by the District Skill Committee, Kakching in collaboration with 'Meira Foods' .
The six food products were launched by Somorjit Salam, Deputy Commissioner, Kakching under the Brand name YM Food products, which includes Umorok Achaar (King Chilli Pickle), Kabok, Lemon Pickle, Ready to Serve Lemon Juice, Katta Nimki Salted and Sweet Nimki.
The DC lauded the trainees and expressed his happiness on the successful completion of the training programme and launching of the food products.
He also extended his gratitude to the Meira Foods for rendering a valuable service during this trying time.
The coordinator of the training programme, Irom Abesana (MGNF, Kakching) also joined the formal launching programme.
The DC further wished the trainees best of luck in their future endeavours.
The trainers from the Meira Foods, Naorem Tombisana and Hanjabam Sunanda also expressed their heartfelt delight on the successful completion of the training programme.
Informing about how the Meira Foods Company started from just Rs 100, they advised the trainees to sell the products and expand their business under their own brand name.
They also offered the relief camp inmates to come for more advanced training for employment at the Meira Foods Unit located at Kuraopokpi Industrial Estate.
The training which started from July 16 mainly focused on food processing and enhancing the skills of the participants so as to sustain their livelihood.
