BSF (EC) ADG Sonali Mishra among others call on Governor

BSF (EC) ADG Sonali Mishra along with four senior officers called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Friday and briefed about the prevailing security situation in Manipur.
Mishra while briefing about the security situation informed that 51 companies of BSF are being deployed in nine districts to assist the administration in maintaining law and order.
She said that maximum deployment is in Imphal mostly in the foothill areas where buffer zone are created by security forces and strict vigil is being maintained to prevent any untoward incidents further.
Although, there have been resistance in discharging duties in some areas by local people mostly by women folks, the force is in touch with local populace and making them aware about the need to create a congenial atmosphere for restoration of peace and normalcy.
Advocating the need to deploy a specific force to a specific area, ADG said, it will help to chalk out plans to face any eventuality in the area.
She also interacted with BSF officer and troops and reviewed security aspects concerning B�F deployment.
ADG BSF also visited BSF companies deployed in IG BSF M&C Ftr and IG BSF STC Churchandpur.
The governor while appreciating the efforts of BSF, said, security forces are meant to save/ help people and therefore all forces should work in this direction.
She further maintained that there might be some issues of resistance but efforts are on to make people aware about the need to cooperate with state and central security forces.
Many appeals have been made to various women organisations to cooperate security forces while meeting them at Raj Bhavan, she pointed out while enquiring the ADG to assess the situation in the adjoining peripheral areas and if need arises logistical assistance can be provided to the people.
The Governor further stated that efforts are on to bring peace and normalcy by central and state governments.
A team of artistes led by Thoithoiba Mayanglambam of Kakching Khunou also called on Governor at Raj Bhavan on Friday and raised issues pertaining to the artiste fraternity and presented a portrait of the Governor painted on a Yangok to her.
Former additional chief secretary of Manipur Dr Suhel Akhtar also called on the Governor.
