Efforts on to rescue stranded Manipuris

Union Minister of State for External Affairs Dr RK Ranjan has stated that the Government has been working to send food and medicines to the 230 Manipuris stranded inside the jungles of Myanmar and bring them to a safer location.
Responding to a representation sent by former National Board member of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Robin Blackei, Dr Ranjan said that the Government has been working to rescue the stranded Indian citizens.
Speaking to media persons at his Keibung Maibam Leikai residence today, Robin Blackei said that he sent a representation to Union MoS RK Ranjan on August 14 after reading a report published by The Hindu on the stranded Manipuris on August 13 which was also published by The Sangai Express (with courtesy to The Hindu) .
The 230 Meitei people who are residents of Moreh fled toward Myanmar after Kuki militants and their supporters started attacking Meitei people at the border town on May 3 itself.
They have been struggling to survive with whatever little aid given by villagers of the neighbouring country for the last three months.
"I wrote to the Union Minister of State for External Affairs to rescue the stranded people and bring them to a safe location", Robin Blackei said.
Citing a reply sent by RK Ranjan yesterday, Robin Blackei said that the matter has been apprised to officials of the Ministry of External Affairs who handle Myanmar issues.
Officials of the Embassy of India, Myanmar have contacted the stranded people.
Moreover, food and medicines have been sent to them, he said citing Dr RK Ranjan's reply.
Dr RK Ranjan also informed that all efforts are being made to bring the stranded people to a safe location, Robin Blackei conveyed.
