Imphal, June 14 2023:
Several MLAs and leaders of different political parties have proceeded to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the present Manipur crisis.
The MLAs who left Imphal for Delhi today include Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam, Heirok AC MLA Dr Th Radheshyam, Hiyanglam AC MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam, Wangjing Tentha AC MLA Paonam Brojen and Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro.
Members of Opposition parties and others who also left Imphal today for Delhi include former Congress MP Thokchom Meinya, MPCC president MLA Keisham Meghachandra, JD(U) leaders Ksh Biren, Dr Nimaichand Luwang, Samuel Jendai, Dr Khwairakpam Loken and Oinam Nabakishore.
Notably, three legislators including Wangoi AC MLA Khuraijam Loken, Keishamthong AC MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam and Kakching AC MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar are already in Delhi.
Also, CPI (M) Manipur State Council secretary Ksh Shanta and MPCC vice president Hareshwar Goswami are also in Delhi seeking appointment to meet the Prime Minister.
It may be noted here that several Opposition parties, INC, CPI, CPI (M), Janata Dal (United), AIFB, RSP, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray), AITC, NCP and AAP had earlier decided to meet Prime Minister on the present crisis and seek his intervention.
Meanwhile, speaking to this reporter, NPP MLA Khuraijam Loken said the violence that first erupted on May 3 has continued over a month and the Prime Minister, unfortunately has not spoken a word about Manipur.
Seeking his intervention and to bring an end to the violence and the conflict, a memorandum will be submitted to him [Prime Minister] tomorrow, he said.
Loken said he has spoken to NPP president Conrad Sangma over the phone on the present issue and urged him to meet the Prime Minister to bring normalcy and peace in Manipur.
