Imphal, June 14 2023:
Deeply saddened by the loss of lives of nine village volunteers in a firing incident at Khamenlok on Tuesday night, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) said the sacrifices of the brave sons of the soil would not go in vain.
According to a statement of COCOMI, well-armed narco-terrorists continue to attack innocent civilians and they even used rocket launchers in the assault on village volunteers at Khamenlok.
The attack from three sides claimed nine precious lives while some others injured in the attack are undergoing treatment in critical conditions.
In view of the continuous attacks on innocent civilians, time has come for entire people of Manipur to take collective responsibility to uproot Narco-terrorists so as to bring normalcy in the society, COCOMI exhorted.
While questioning the inaction of large numbers of Central security forces deployed in the state when .'Lungi' clad heavily armed immigrants from Myanmar attack civilians in Manipur, COCOMI said people are now suspicious if Central forces are indirectly supporting Narco-terrorists in the attack on Meetei people.
Though many people have lost their lives in the continuing attack by narco-terrorists, many youths including females came out to sacrifice their lives for the 'motherland' and fighting well-armed Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists with available weapons, the COCOMI said adding that Narco-terrorists will be uprooted from the land with collective efforts of the people.
Expressing deeply concern over large numbers of casu alties suffered in the ongoing fight against narco-terrorists, COCOMI stressed the need for fighting the enemy with the right strategy and tactics.
It also called upon all the leaders of civil society organisations to work together under a collective leadership at this crucial time and chalked out strategies to effectively deal with the enemy.
While asserting that people of Manipur are deeply anguished over silence of the Government of India when narco-terrorists repeatedly attack innocent civilians, the COCOMI questioned as to why no effective combing operation is carried out when Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists are planning to attack villages in the peripheral valley areas in a big way.
As such, question arises if the Government of India is indirectly supporting Narco-terrorists and their nefarious activities.
It is also evident that India never considers people of Manipur as bonafide citizens of the country, COCOMI rued.
In view of Government of India's inability take up any decisive action against Narco-terrorists till date and attitude of Central forces towards the Meetei community, the COCOMI is compelled to consider if Government of India considers people of Manipur as their enemy.
If the situation happens to worsen, there will be no reason for the people not to demand complete withdrawal of Central forces from Manipur, COCOMI cautioned, adding that unwanted incidents might also happen when dissatisfaction of the people against BJP government deepens and crosses the limit of tolerance.
