Naga bodies urge for shunning violence

Imphal, June 14 2023:
Expressing grave concern over the communal conflict in the state, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), Longmai Luangrian (LL), Inpui Naga Union (INU) and other Naga CSOs urged the public to abstain from any act of violence or issue statement that may possibly be interpreted as provocative or lead to tension in Naga areas.
In a joint release, INU speaker S Halwan Khumba and RNCM/ LL chairman Daigong Gondaimei cautioned any individual, group or organisation to refrain from self indulgence that may undermine the peaceful coexistence in the area.
Misleading propagandas in any form and public mobilisation by any person, which might create misunderstanding, vandalism and physical assault against any person or group, will be seriously dealt with, it emphasised.
The CSOs further appealed to all concerned to verify and authenticate any news or comments concerning the Naga areas through the legitimate organisation representing the area.
Meanwhile, commending people of all communities for maintaining peace in Chandel district thus far, Naga Students' Union Chandel (NSUC) has to all concerned to promote the same trend.
In a release, the Union reiterated that no organisation/group/individual should disturb the fabric of peaceful co-existence in Chandel by way of incitement or instigation.
The Union also disapproved any policy involving change of district administration official at this crux juncture, just because he/she be longs to a particular community.
NSUC further asserted that in no way, it will accept any interference from external quarters in matters which are under the jurisdiction of the Union.
