Imphal, June 14 2023: To celebrate World Blood Donors Day 2023, Students' Council of Shija Academy of Health Sciences (SAHS), Langol, in collaboration with Shija Blood Center today organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at Shija Blood Center, Langol.

The camp was inaugurated by Dr M Amuba Singh, Director, SAHS, in the presence of Dr Rajmani Chongtham, Consultant Shija Blood Center, and Dr Soram Goutam, Asst Professor, Community Medicine, SAHS, said a release issued by Shija Hospitals & Research Institute.

During the camp, Dr M Amuba Singh also extended a financial contribution to the Students' Council for the successful execution of the event.

World Blood Donors Day observed

The president of SAHS Students' Council, Sanathoibi Kshetrimayum highlighted that the event was organised to demonstrate solidarity towards the victims of the prevailing situation in Manipur.

She shared that the collected blood will be utilized for those patients admitted to Shija Hospitals who have been affected by the current situation.

The president reported that approximately 50 volunteers, comprising MBBS students, Medical Interns and Shija staff participated in the blood donation camp.

Notably, the Students' Council plans to conduct similar events on a regular basis and intends to raise awareness about blood donation in the community, as well as in schools and colleges.

Similarly, on the occasion of World Blood Donors Day, a team of 20 members led by Sana Meitram, national general secretary organisation One India Foundation under the guidance of Prof Rakesh Sinha, MP Rajya Sabha, today donated blood at Blood Bank JNIMS in Imphal East.

In a release, One India Foundation informed that the blood donation camp was conducted in coordination with United Clubs Organisation and Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, Ward No 9 of Keishamthong Assembly Constituency.
