Imphal, June 14 2023:
It is time for every Meetei to unite and work under a single command to face the Myanmar based People Defence Force (PDF) which is hostile towards the Meeteis, said Khundrakpam Constituency MLA Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh.
The Congress MLA visited the JNIMS morgue at Porompat today to examine the post mortems of the nine Meeteis who were killed in the bomb and gun attack carried out by Kuki militants last midnight at Nongshum Khamenlok area.
Speaking to the media, Th Lokeshwar continued that there is no respite on the attack being carried out by Chin Defence Force and PDF by colluding with Kuki militant groups under Suspension of Operation (SoO) against the Meeteis.

Claiming that the Centre hasn't done anything worthwhile to end the violence in Manipur though it is very easy if they are committed to it, the Congress MLA asked whether the Centre wants every Meetei to die. The Central security forces are also doing nothing to de-escalate the tension in the State, Lokeshwar claimed and asked why the Central forces are still silent when innocent civilians and people who stood on guard to protect their houses and villages have been killed constantly by the well armed militants.
Claiming that many of the militants who attacked the Meetei villagers last night wore lungi, he appealed to all the Meeteis to unite so as to work out a strategy to face the militants especially PDF under a single command.
It truly is unfortunate that the Centre is still not taking the issue in Manipur seriously when the Kuki militant groups and Myanmar based outfits have openly challenged the unity and the integrity of the State, the Congress MLA said and added that the conduct of the Centre is questionable.
Appealing to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to visit the State within two to three days to take stock of the ground situation, Lokeshwar cautioned that bigger violence may erupt if Centre doesn't take up prompt action to douse the flame.
He went to appeal to the Government to let the Central and State security forces fight the SoO militant groups and Myanmar based outfits who have been attacking the Meeteis for peace and normalcy to return.
The Congress MLA also appealed to all the people to not hamper the ambulance service.
