Imphal, June 14 2023:
In order to restore peace and normalcy in the strife-torn State which has witnessed rampant violence since May 3, prayers and other oblations were offered at the sacred site of Ibudhou Marjing at Heingang this morning.
Many notable members of the Committee including Pangeijam Saratchandra, secretary, Heingang Block Congress Committee and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) took part in the ceremony organised by Heingang Block Congress Committee.
Speaking in this connection, Pangeijam Saratchandra stated that Congress workers had organised the prayer offering ceremony with the hope of restoring peace to the State.
He highlighted the key issues faced by the people due to the conflict such as displacement of thousands, a cessation of classes in all schools and colleges, loss of livelihoods etc.
Despite crossing the 40-day mark, the State and Central Government have failed to put an end to the violence.
The double-engine Government has failed to control the chaos and the State Government has been reduced to the status of a caged prisoner stripped of any real power, he added.
He urged the people to put pressure on the Central and State Government to rehabilitate the displaced people by resettling them in their homes and ensuring that they live peaceful lives.
Pangeijam Saratchandra also appealed to the State Government to take concrete and sincere steps to resolve the conflict to save the Meitei community and bring peace in the State.
Later, the gathering also shouted slogans such as "Long live Manipur" .
