Imphal, September 13 2023: Joining the momentous launch of the Ayushman Bhavah (saturation coverage of health schemes) by President of India Draupadi Murmu virtually on Wednesday, Governor of Manipur Anusuiya Uikey also launched the State Level Ayushman Bhavah Campaign held at Hotel Classic Grande, Chingmeirong, in the presence of Health & Family Welfare minister Dr Sapam Ranjan.

While delivering her speech as the chief guest, Governor Uikey highlighted the initiatives of Prune Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that every citizen of India receives good medical facilities and no person should be left out from availing medical treatment and healthcare facilities through Ayushman Bhavah campaign.

Stating that India's goal of universal health coverage will be possible only when every citizen have access to medical facility, she informed the main focus of the campaign is to increase awareness about various health schemes and to ensure that the benefits reach every citizen till the last mile of the country.

Health cards will also be provided to eligible beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat scheme as a part of the campaign, she added.

In addition, the Arogya Lakshya Seva is being promoted to provide health services to the vulnerable sections and middle class levels, she said.

Many other programmes like Ayushman Aapke Dwar, Ayushman Sabha, School Children Screening and Ayushman Gram are some of the activities planned, the Governor informed, while lauding the tireless efforts being made by the health department, especially for the poor and needy people and urged for continuing their services in the future as well.

Stating that the campaign could be called a success only when all shoulder their respective responsibilities, Governor Uikey urged for all Gram/Nagar Panchayats to work together to attain the level of Ayushman Gram Panchayat or Ayushman Ward.

She then mentioned increasing number of successful organ transplant operations in the state, while extending her gratitude to the families of the donors.

She also noted the contribution by the Health Department under the leadership of the chief minister and health minister amid the on-going strife, in ensuring proper medical facilities for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge in various relief camps across the state.

She then reiterated the initiative of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) in providing relief materials for the IDPs after her intervention during the IRCS Convention held in New Delhi in July.

Regarding the prevailing situation in the state, the Governor appealed all to come together with an open mind and work for resolving this issue to re-establish the state's tradition of peaceful co-existence.

She further appealed to the people of Manipur not to move towards the path of violence, ignore rumours, respect each other's views and help affected people suffering from this crisis.

Presiding over the programme, Health & Family Welfare minister Dr Sapam Ranjan highlighted the importance of the campaign launched nationwide on Wednesday by President Murmu.

He said that it is fortunate for the Health Department to be part of the nationwide launch programme, after India took over the G20 presidency under the leadership of PM Modi and went on to hold the G20 summit in the country.

He observed that there are many families in the state who have not yet enrolled for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

Thus, the newly launched campaign will be introduced as part of the PM's birthday celebration on September 17, which will be held till October 2 under 'Seva Pakhwada'.

Under Ayushman Aapke Dwar, registration of eligible families will be done for AB-PMJAY and health cards will be issued to these families.

Interested persons may contact the DLOs in this regard, he informed.

Meanwhile, under the Ayushman Sabha programme, awareness activities regarding health, hygiene and nutrition will be organised at the village level in addition to NCD screening of sickle cell, vaccination, and TB screening at the state and district levels, he added.
