CCpur, September 13 2023:
Reacting to the statement issued by Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) related to the attack by Kuki-Zo tribals and its affirmation to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur to their last breath, Manipur Muslim Society (MMS), Churachandpur categorically said that MMWO does not represent the entire Muslim community.
Addressing a press meet at Jama Masjid, Zenhang on Wednesday morning, MMS member Riyaj Khan said that MMWO neither represents the entire Muslim community nor was not formed with the concerns of all Muslims in mind.
They were taking actions without the permission and knowledge of the Muslim community, he said.
Riyaz Khan emphasised that Muslims in Churachandpur do not have any animosity with any particular community', whether it be tribal or Meetei.
He said that the activities of Singamayum Sabir Ahmad, who was caught in Churachandpur on September 9, had created a lot of tension and an uneasy atmosphere for them (Muslim in Churachandpur) .
'He may be a CID or not a CID, but what he did was a spoilsport," he said and added: "We have been living peacefully here in Churachandpur" .
Md Burhan Uddin, another member of MMS, stated that they have been living peacefully with no pressure from any quarter, but the actions of Sabir Ahmad had caused problems.
He urged the government to take up necessary measures for restoring peace.
