Last rites of Jiten today

Thoubal and Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) has informed that the mortal remains of Yengkhom Jiten will be claimed from JNIMS mortuary tomorrow.
Yengkhom Jiten, who hailed from Kakching Chumnang Leikai, was killed when the 26 Sector Assam Rifles fired live rounds at an agitating crowd demanding removal of barricades at Leimangai Chingjin on September 8 .
Today, TAKDAL organised a meeting at Library and Information Centre Kakching at Kakching Phousupat Leikai to discuss the matter.
The meeting was followed by a press briefing afterwards.
Speaking to media persons, Yengkhom Bhagyachandra, president TAKDAL stated that some Kakching organisations had expressed their opposition when the JAC Against the Killing of Innocent Yengkhom Jiten by Assam Rifles went to claim his dead body on September 10.Thus, the JAC had returned empty handed.
In this regard, he said that TAKDAL has given a lot of weight to the appeal made by the wife of Yengkhom Jiten to the concerned Kakching organisations urging them to provide a clarification regarding their opposition to claiming her husband's dead body.
Thus, today's meeting was conducted with the participation of JAC members, family members of the deceased, representatives of Kakching CSOs and TAKDAL advisor Nongmaithem Modhu.
He shared that a group will move out from Kakching to claim Yengkhom Jiten's dead body from JNIMS morgue at 9 am tomorrow.
After the martyr's dead body is brought back to Kakching, a ceremony will be held for the public to pay their last respects to the deceased, he said.
Afterwards, a burial ceremony will be held near the memorial site of Wangkhei Meiraba Poila at Machin Manao Ching, Kakching.
TAKDAL president Yengkhom Bhagyachandra has urged people to attend the burial ceremony of Yengkhom Jiten and pay their tributes.
