Kangpokpi, August 11 2026: Thousands of people took to the streets in Chandel district today, vehemently opposing the proposed Indo-Myanmar boundary demarcation and realignment of boundary pillars in the Khengjoi sector.

Carrying a blunt message, "Not an inch of our land will be parted", protesters gathered at Khengjang and Molcham villages under the banner of affected border-area Kuki chiefs, rejec- ting what they described as an "undemocratic" attempt to alter a boundary position that has long existed on the ground.

The rally came after the affected communities claimed that the Ministry of Home Affairs had directed completion of the demarcation exercise within three months following a meeting chaired by the Union Home Minister on May 11 .

The proposed realignment of Boundary Pillars 65 at Molcham, 66 at Jangngoulen, 67 at Khumkot and 68 at Joldam has triggered fierce opposition, with the Kuki chiefs asserting that the proposed alignment does not correspond to the existing ground position traditionally recognised and occupied by their people.

The affected chiefs maintained that the existing boundary position must remain untouched.
