Thoubal, July 03 2023: A 27 year old man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a copper plate fixed to the memorial stone erected at Kheba Ching of Khongjom, today.

The person has been identified as Thokchom Johnson (27), s/o Shyamtombi of Samaram Mamang Leikai and he was arrested by the personnel of Khongjom IB police outpost with the help of locals and members of the Tourism Centre.

Speaking to media persons, Post Commander of Khongjom IB police outpost Sub Inspector Y Shankardas said that one copper plate was also stolen on June 24 .

Claiming that Johnson came today at around 11 am again to rob another piece of copper plate, the police officer said that he (Johnson) was caught red handed along with the copper plate.

On preliminary interrogation, it has been confirmed that the copper plate missing on June 24 was also stolen by Johnson, Y Shankardas added.
