Police report takes note of gun attacks

The Police Control Room (PCR), in its daily bulletin, has said that armed miscreants continue to launch gun attacks in different areas of Bishnupur, Imphal West and Kakching districts in the last 24 hours.
According to PCR, armed miscreants opened fire towards Leikinthabi and Chirik village in Imphal West today and later burnt down some farms houses at Chirik village while another group fired towards Phougakchao Awang Leikai and Kwakta in the intervening night of July 2 and 3, injuring one person from Kwakta.
In another instance of gun violence, suspected armed miscreants launched a gun attack from the abandoned Napat Village and Tangjeng Ahallup areas of Bishnupur towards Khoubuk and Tangjeng Khunjao areas of Kakching district, said the Control Room.
The Control Room said that the State police and Central security forces rushed to all the areas where firings were reported and launched operations.
Intermittent firing between armed miscreants was also reported in the intervening night of July 1 and 2 at the adjoining villages of Chinglangmei and Langza in Churachandpur district.
During the incident one person was reported to be dead and another was injured, it added.
As usual, the Control Room said that the situation is tense in some places with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of unruly mob during the last 24 hours but the situation is normal in most districts.
Altogether 118 checkpoints have been installed in different districts of Manipur, the PCR informed and shared a Helpline number 9233522822 to clarify rumour.
