Imphal, July 03 2023:
AIFB, CPI(M) and RSP Organised a national solidarity day on the theme of 'Peace in Manipur' at Irabot Bhavan, BT Road here Monday.
Speaking at the event, CPI Manipur State Council ex-secretary L Sotinkumar informed that MPs of left parties will soon be visiting Manipur first first-and account of the prevailing situation.
The MP team will visit relief camps in both the hills and the valley and bring forth the issue to the attention of the parliament.
Questioning the silence of the PM on the violence being perpetrated by Kuki militants till date, Sotinkumar further questioned if the central government has any hidden agenda, considering the huge threat to the integrity of Manipur.
He then urged for restoring peace in Manipur and putting an end to the violence of SoO groups which are violating the ground rules of the
agreement.
He further called for containing the aggression by Kuki militants, who have infiltrated into the state.
Enquiring if the paramilitary forces have been deployed to protect Kuki militants instead, the former secretary said that the paramilitary forces neither defend against the attack from Kuki militants nor counter against the same without permission from government.
This could only mean that Article 355 has been enforced in the state and the CM has been reduced to a proxy, seeing that he has been removed from the chairmanship of unified command.
His powerlessness was displayed during his visit to an incident site on Sunday where he could not give out any orders to the army.
Thus, there is a need for CM who could be the chairman of the unified command and peace committee instead of having a puppet CM, Sotinkumar remarked.
The programme was also attended by CPI (M) secretary Ksh Shanta, CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Thoirel arid All Manipur Nupi Marup president M Sakhi among others.
