Imphal, July 03 2023:
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) observed its 23rd foundation day at Manipur Press Club, today.
At the function, UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam said that the Committee will face every threat to the State's unity and integrity suitably.
Saying that the Kuki militants taking the path of violence simply because of denying their homeland demand is unacceptable, the UCM president said that the demand they raised is not worth even discussing.
Asking why the Chief Minister tries to shun responsibility when the State is facing one of the deadliest violence in the history of Manipur , Joychandra added that the Chief Minister should not think of resigning at the moment.
There are many Manipuris who will not hesitate to give up even their lives for the sake of the State, he said and asked the Chief Minister to do what needs to be done boldly as people are with him.
If the Chief Minister is hellbent on resigning that he can do so after peace and normalcy is returned in Manipur, the UCM president added.
Continuing that some among the 50 MLAs are trying to grab power at a time when the State has been threatened by many elements, Joychandra maintained that it is not the time to engage in petty politics.
The UCM president, on the other hand, appealed to the Government to provide adequate security to pursue agricultural activities.
The programme was also attended by IPSA president Tourangbam Birjit, NIPCO president Oinam Premjit, PANDM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, ACOAM-Lup Kangleipak president Soraisam Sanjit, KANGLAMEI president Y Leirik and AMKIL president RK Bino.
