Kom Union Manipur appeals

The Kom Union Manipur (KUM) has expressed deep anguish and pain over the loss of lives and properties in the present conflict of Manipur over the past months.
"As we have already stated, Kom community is one of the indigenous small tribes of Manipur since time immemorial and will continue to remain as Kom", said KUM in a release.
KUM appealed to all concerned irrespective of caste/ communities not to construct/ set up bunkers near the Kom tribe villages and not to harm/ harass the Kom community inhabiting in the peripheral areas of valley districts.
KUM also expressed its appreciation to the other communities for not harming and harassing the Kom tribe till date.
"If any individual or villager of Kom tribe is involved in this communal conflict, it will be the responsibility for him or the concerned village.
It is clarified that the KUM will not be responsible for any eventuality arising out of his/her involvement", it added.
KUM further urged all concerned not to believe in false information /allegations about the involvement of Kom Union Manipur in the present conflict.
"Rather the KUM make efforts to bring peace and tranquillity in the state of Manipur", it concluded.
