Imphal, December 17 2010:
A combined team of Imphal West Police Commandos and troops of 26 Assam Rifles today seized huge cache of arms and ammunitions of some valley based underground organization at Kangchup Makhong and Kangchup Chiru area.
Based on specific intelligence report, the combined team under the supervision of DSP, CDO/IW, Th Krishnatombi and under the command and control of DSP, CDO/IW S Ibomcha, conducted cordon and search operation at around 5 am today.
The combined team found one M-16 Rifle, 32 lathod shells, 10 chinese grenades, four 36 hand grenades, 423 AK Rifles ammunitions, 213 M-16 ammunitions, one radio set, five detonators, two AK magazines, two 7.62 mm sniper ammunitions, one 7.62 LMG ammunition and one lathod shell pouch buried in a neatly concealed polythene bundle.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal East Police Commandos and troops of 28 Assam Rifles apprehended one KCP (Lamyanba Khuman) cadre from Lamphel Sana Keithel area on December 15.He was identified as Irom Muthi Roshan (24) s/o late I Iboyaima of Irom Leikai, Singjamei Chingamakha.
He disclosed that he joined the organization in October this year through one Jiten.
He further disclosed that he was involved in extorting money from general public and government officials.
In another incident, Imphal East Police Commandos arrested one UNLF cadre from Lamlong Bazar yesterday at around 6.30 am.
He was identified as Mutum Kennedy @ Naobicha @ Nongil (29), s/o late M Meino of Deulaland Kabow Leikai.
On verification he disclosed that he joined the organization in 2005 through one Boi of Thangmeiband and trained at Kabow valley.
His army number I 12841 of 36 base of UNLF.
The Imphal West Police Commandos also arrested two cadres of PULF from their house yesterday.
They were identified as Laimayum Krishankumar @ Mangol Luwang (42), s/o late L Madhop of Thangmeiband Watham Leirak Machin and Thoudam Umakanta @ Khambaton (35), s/o Th Chaoba of Khurai Thoudam Leikai.
Seven demand letters of PULF were recovered from them.
In another incident, bomb experts of Manipur Police recovered a Chinese Hand grenade from the gate of Machu Cinema Hall, Samurou at around 7 am today.
The bomb was exploded by the experts at an uninhabited area of Samurou.
