Bishnupur, July 24 2023: Kuki militants continued to unleash terror and rain bullets and bombs at Torbung and Phougakchao Ikhai areas.

Kuki militants started firing at Torbung Mamang Leikai and Maning Leikai at around 7.50 pm today some time after Assam Rifles sounded siren at dusk.

Kuki militants fired several rounds of bullets, said sources.

Earlier today, Kuki militants fired at a cattle herder, who escaped unhurt and two country-made dud bombs fired by Kuki militants were detonated at separate places at Terakhongshangbi and Phougakchao Ikhai by Kumaon Regiment, CRPF, BSF and Manipur Police.

One of the bombs was recovered from Terakhong-shangbi Maning, under Moirang police station, where Kuki militants launched a fierce attack on village volunteers yesterday.

A two-hour long search was conducted to recover the unexploded bomb at Terakhongshangbi Maning Laithel Loukol at noon.

Bomb experts of the Kumaon Regiment detonated the dud bomb at a safe place at the Loukol (field) .

The other unexploded bomb was recovered from Phougakchao Ikhai area.

Kuki militants had carried out attacks on village volunteers at Phougakchao Ikhai Mamang Leikai, Maning Leikai and Awang Leikai yesterday night at around 9 .

Today, Central Para Military Forces, Manipur Police and VDF personnel stationed at Torbung Sabal Leikai conducted search to recover unexploded explosives in the area and recovered the dud bomb at around 4.40 pm from the plot of one Warepam Lokhon.

Later, it was detonated at a safe place in the area.

On the other hand, Kuki militants fired at a person who was herding cattle as usual at an area near Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Chingkham Heikol at around 8.15 am.

However, he escaped unhurt.
