Guv highlights India's goal of universal health coverage

As President of India Droupadi Murmu kicked off the Nationwide virtual launch of the Ayushman Bhavah campaign, the State level launching program was held at Hotel Classic Grande auditorium here today in the presence of Governor Anu-suiya Uikey and Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan.
Delivering her speech as the chief guest, Governor Uikey highlighted the initiative taken up by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that every citizen of India receives good medical facilities and no person is left out from receiving medical treatment and healthcare facilities through the Ayush-man Bhavah campaign.

Stating that India's goal of universal health coverage will be possible only when every citizen of every village in the country has access to medical facilities, she informed that the main focus of this campaign is to increase awareness about various health schemes and to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach every citizen till the last mile of the country.
Health cards will also be provided to eligible beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme as a part of the Ayushman Bhavah campaign, she added.
Reiterating the statement made by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya that Ayushman Mela will be organised across one lakh seventeen thousand health and wellness centres under this campaign, she added that such initiatives have been taken up to provide people with access to medical facilities.
The Governor also lauded the tireless efforts being made by the Health Department especially for the poor and needy people and urged them to continue their services in the future too.
With regard to the prevailing situation in the State, Governor Uikey appealed to everyone to come together with an open mind and work to resolve this issue to re-establish the State's tradition of peaceful co-existence.
She further appealed to the people of Manipur not to move towards the path of violence but ignore rumours, respect each others' views and help affected people suffering from this crisis.
She also mentioned the contribution extended by the Health Department during this ongoing strife led by Health Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan in ensuring proper medical facilities for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuge in various relief camps spread across the State.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sapam Ranjan, Minister for Health & Family Welfare informed that many programs like Ayushman Aapke Dwar, Ayushman Sabha, Ayushman Mela, School Children Screening and Ayushman Gram are some of the activities planned under this campaign.
Under Ayushman Aapke Dwar, registration of eligible families will be done for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and health cards will be issued to these families.
Under the Ayushman Sabha programme, awareness activities regarding health, hygiene and nutrition will be organized at the village level.
He also stated that coordination at the district level as well as intra and inter departmental coordination are necessary to ensure that everyone gets the opportunity to avail the scheme.
While stressing that the Health Department works for the welfare of the people, he also pointed out that the department is continuously coordinating efforts in various relief camps to ensure that no patient is deprived of their requisite medical needs. As part of the occasion, Governor Uikey led a pledge for organ donation and handed over awards to Nikshay Mitra awardees.
Notably, Pradeep Kumar Jha, Commissioner Health and Family Welfare Department, doctors and concerned stakeholders were also present at the launching program.
