Ukhrul, November 01 2023: A newly installed open gym at KK Leishiphanit ground at Kasomtang in Ukhrul district was inaugurated by Somatai Shaiza, former BJP candidate from Ukhrul AC .

Somatai Shaiza took the initiative of shifting the open gym site from the woods of Marung to KK Leishiphanit ground and bore the expenses from his pocket for the purpose.

The open gym is fitted with elliptical, cross trainer, chin up bar, seated leg press, seated chest press, cycling etc.

Speaking at the occasion, he urged all to avail the benefits of the open gym for a healthy lifestyle.

Meanwhile, Robert Leishangthem, proprietor cum coach of Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul demonstrated gym techniques and exercises.

It may be noted that the open gym was first constructed in the woods of Marung and remained abandoned for a long time owing to its isolated location.

Marung is around 17 kilometres away from Ukhrul town and posed inconveniences to many to reach the site.

Somatai, after visiting and seeing the open gym location far away from the residential areas, took up the initiative to shift it to KK Leishiphanit ground.
