Imphal, August 18 2023: Three persons were shot on the legs by some unidentified men on Yairipok-Charangpat road, Thoubal district under Yairipok police station at around 2 pm today.

The three individuals who were shot and injured have been identified as Md Musharaf (20) s/o Md Tomba of Yairipok Bamon Leikai, Md Ruhish (18) s/o Md Sariyat of Yairipok Ngoubung Keithel and Md Warish (24) s/o late Nazir Ahamed of Yairipok Singa Mathak Leikai.

They were taken captive and brought there in a vehicle by the unidentified men.

There, the unidentified men pumped one bullet each on their calves.

After shooting the three individuals, the unidentified men left the place immediately.

On learning about the incident, a team of Thoubal district police rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured men to CHC Yairipok.

They were later taken to Imphal for further treatment.

Although it is not yet clear why they were shot and injured, it is suspected that they were shot as a warning against dealing in drugs.

They were taken captive by unidentified armed men from Yairipok Bishnunaha last night, sources informed.

Meanwhile, Yairipok police have started an investigation into the incident after registering a case.
