The Meetei Coordinating Committee Tronglaobi to Torbung and Waikhurok has warned of counter measures if the prohibition imposed by 'Kuki volunteers' on shopkeepers against selling any commodity to State forces stationed at Moreh is not lifted.
Speaking to media persons at Terakhongshangbi Awang Leikai today, Meetei Coordinating Committee Tronglaobi to Torbung and Waikhurok president Yum-nam Tomba said that the committee would ban transportation of essential commodities to Chura-chandpur with effect from February 9 if the prohibition imposed by Kuki volunteers on shopkeepers at Moreh is not lifted by February 8 .
He said that the prohibition imposed by Kuki volunteers on shopkeepers against selling any commodity including water to State forces stationed at Moreh is a dastardly act.

Condemning the prohibition in the strongest terms, he urged the State Government to take up befitting action instead of watching the Kuki volunteers' unwarranted aggression silently.
The Meetei Coordinating Committee Tronglaobi to Torbung and Waikhurok would not remain silent if the Kuki volunteers continue harassment of State forces, he said.
If the prohibition on selling goods to State forces is not lifted by February 8, the committee, along with other CSOs, clubs, organisations and Meira Paibis would block transportation of food items and other essential items to Churachandpur from the next day, he warned.
He also appealed to all the indigenous people to support the proposed blockade, in case the situation demands such a counter measure.
After the Kuki militants' repeated attacks failed to drive out State forces from Moreh, the so called Kuki volunteers threatened all shopkeepers of the border town not to sell anything including water to the State forces stationed there.
Fearing reprisals from the Kuki militants and the so called Kuki volunteers in case of disobeying their diktat, all shops have been literally closed to State forces since January 30 .
Kuki militants had ethnically cleansed the border town of all Meiteis after the Tribal Solidarity March turned violent at Torbung and Churachandpur on May 3, 2023 .
