Manipur rack up nine medals; on Day 3 in National track cycling Championships

Imphal, December 13 2022:
The state cyclists racked up nine medals including four gold on the third day of the 74th Senior, 51st Junior & 37th Sub Junior National Track Cycling Championships 2022 at Guwahati, Assam.
Manipur won two gold medals each in individual and team competitions on Tuesday.
M Wataba did the state proud by claiming his second gold medal on the third day of the championship.
He won the sub-junior boys' 5km scratch race to claim back-to-back gold medals, following his staller performance in the sub-junior boys' 500m time trial event earlier on Monday.
Tarunkumari Thokchom was equally impressive as she secured her consecutive gold medal after coming out on top in the youth girls' 2km individual pursuit.
She bagged her first gold medal in the youth girls' 500m time trial on Monday.
Jesh Thokchom, meanwhile, settled for silver medal in the youth boys' 2km individual pursuit while A Tanibala Devi took bronze in the youth girls' 2km individual pursuit.
Manipur also dominated both junior women's and sub-junior boys' team sprint events.
The boys 'team comprising Th Gyananta Singh, M Wataba Singh, K Lanhenba Singh and W Bidwananda Singh clocked 01:08.184s to set a national record in the sub-junior boys' team sprint event on their way to the gold medal.
On the other hand, the state trio of H Premika Chanu, B Bidyarani Devi and H Thajamanbi Chanu together won the junior women's team sprint event with a time of 01:17.425.The men's elite team of Th Chinglensana, K Jemsh Singh and KH Rahul settled for bronze medal.
The two other individual bronze medallists were T Bipil (sub-jr boys' 2km pursuit) and Kh Rejiya Devi (women's elite 3km pursuit) .
