50th annual college week of DMCTE begins

The 50th annual college week of Dhanamanjuri College of Teacher Education (DMCTE), Imphal organised by its Trainee Union commenced at its campus from Tuesday.
The inaugural function of the meet was attended by DMCTE principal Dr Rk Lokendra and associate professor Dr Konika Khuraijam along with other teachers of the institution.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lokendra highlighted importance and role of teachers in making a healthy society.
Teachers and all those who aspire to enter the profession should lead the students to the right path with a sacrificial spirit.
Moreover, instead of teaching solely based on the bookish knowledge and its syllabus, the teach ers should also focus on co-curricular activities as a qualified person needs life skills.
As such, the trainees who want to pursue teach ing as a profession need to be trained in co-curricular activities as well, he continued.
Stating that students from different communities are participating in the college week, the principal expressed confidence that it will help them to know one another and strengthen the bond of love and friendship.
He further informed that literary, cultural and sports meet are main events of the week where teachers and trainee teachers will compete.
Organising such week will also help the trainees to expose their talents, the principal added.
On the first day of the event, four houses of the trainee teachers took part in a march-past competition followed by literary competition and release of a souvenir.
