Anti-drug prog, medical camp organised

Phundrei Battalion of IGAR (South) organised awareness lecture under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at Khongjom village on Tuesday to make the locals aware about rampant alcohol and drug abuse prevailing in the society.
While informing that special focus was given on the youth of the area who are affected by the menace, a PRO IGAR (S) release said a total of 56 local youths and villagers attended the event.
Meanwhile, Keithelmanbi Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a mega medical and dental camp at Moirangpurel village in Imphal East district on Monday under Assam Rifles' Civic Action Project.
A total of 576 villagers attended the camp conducted under the supervision of six doctors including eye specialist.
Medicines worth more than Rs 1 lakh were also distributed to locals free of cost, the PRO informed in another release, adding that the local MLA and the people expressed their profound gratitude to Assam Rifles for extending all the help and support.
